Our Founders
For nearly two decades our lives were shaped by war, service, and the relentless pace of multiple deployments. Jonathan’s years in the Navy SEAL Teams demanded everything while Allison carried the weight at home, raising our five children under the constant pressure of uncertainty. Like so many military families, we were united in love but separated by the invisible wounds of duty, trauma, and survival. When Jonathan returned from combat the uniform came off but the war stayed with him, creating distance in our home that neither of us knew how to close.
In 2012 we founded the SEAL Future Foundation with a mission to help Jonathan’s teammates reintegrate, heal, and rebuild their lives. We watched countless warriors find hope and direction, yet we continued to struggle privately. Trauma had shaped our marriage and no amount of effort could repair what we could not fully understand. Everything shifted in 2018 when Jonathan traveled to undergo ibogaine therapy. For the first time he found clarity, calm, and the ability to breathe again. Two years later Allison stepped into her own healing journey with plant medicine and that experience became a turning point. After fourteen years of marriage we were finally able to meet one another again. That transformation opened our eyes to something deeper. Healing ourselves meant healing our family and creating the opportunity to end the generational trauma that had impacted our lives and the lives of our five children.
Allison soon founded The Hope Project recognizing that real transformation must include the spouse and the family. Through her leadership hundreds of partners have received their own healing, guidance, and support. We saw that when a veteran heals alone the family still carries the weight, but when the family heals together recovery becomes lasting.
The Invisible Wounds Family Foundation is the culmination of everything we learned through the SEAL Future Foundation, The Hope Project, and our own personal journey. We built this foundation because the need extends far beyond the special operations community. Veterans, first responders, and their families all carry invisible wounds including PTSD, TBI, depression, and moral injury. Our mission is to bring every element of healing under one roof through plant medicine retreats, peer to peer support, brain health research, and dedicated family programs. This foundation is our story and our commitment to ensure that no one walks this path alone and that the next generation inherits something better than what war left behind.
